Your Front Door Gives a First Impression

door to front of the house

Does your front door welcome visitors?

The first impression when someone comes to your home is the front door. Keep your entry area clean and in good condition.
Make a statement with the paint of your front door. Red, dark green or black are gold colors that stand out. Give your door a fresh coat of paint as needed depending on sun exposure.

Keep the door clean. Depending on the exposure to weather, I suggest cleaning your front door every other week. When you keep up with the dust, you can just wipe the door with a dry cloth. For a deeper clean, use a mixture of warm water and white vinegar or mild dish-washing liquid (only use 1 teaspoon to a gallon of water and be sure to rinse well).

Freshen up the hardware on your door. There are some cleaning products out there such as Maas metal cleaner. If you have glass or ceramic door knobs, just using rubbing alcohol.

Add color by the front door by including a couple of pots with large green evergreens and annuals around the base of the plant. Don’t clutter your front door by having multiple pots of plants. Less is more.

What does your front door look like right now?
